For Rara Mitchell, language and heritage are deeply personal. Growing up in the Esgenoôpetitj First Nation (Mi'kmaq Nation), her father spoke Mi'kmaq to her family every day and instilled a strong connection to traditional ways of life — from hunting to cultural practices. After losing her father, Rara felt a piece of her tradition and language slip away. Determined to reclaim and honor her roots, she set out on a mission not only to relearn Mi'kmaq for herself, but to pass it on to her children and youth across different communities.

That passion inspired Creative Cub, an organization dedicated to helping children learn about Indigenous culture through play, music, drumming, singing, and hands-on crafts like beading, basket-making, and skirt-sewing.

The Challenge: Making Cultural Education Tactile & Accessible

Teaching language and heritage to young children requires tools that are engaging, durable, and visual. Rara needed high-quality, vibrant custom goods that could combine Mi'kmaq artwork with both Mi'kmaq and English translations. The goal was to create tangible educational tools that kids would love to interact with, wear, and carry home from school workshops.

2. Interactive Sticker Sheets & Custom Die-Cut Stickers

Kids love stickers because they're easy to hold, fun to handle, and they can stick them almost anywhere. These stickers serve as hands-on learning rewards that children can peel, stick, and talk about with their families.

3. Custom Badges

Looking ahead, Rara plans to expand into even more schools and partner with other First Nations to feature additional Indigenous languages.
