How to Print QR Code Stickers
November 08, 2023Stickers work great as promotional materials used to spread the word about your business, campaign, or event. Printed with your logo, slogan, or other marketing copy, you can give them away to your employees or customers and make them passive advocates of your business. But with their small size, stickers can only say so much. If you’re looking for a way to provide your audience with more information or engage with them online, you might consider printing QR code stickers.
What are QR Code Stickers?
QR codes, also known as Quick Response codes, are 2D barcodes that store information.
But they’re not like the standard barcodes we see on common consumer items. Instead, QR codes are more advanced and capable of storing a wide variety of data, from alphabetic and alphanumeric to numeric, kanji, or binary.
They work when the code is scanned by a user through their mobile device or tablet, which then leads them to a specific source, whether a website URL, a video file, a PDF document, a social media page, and more, depending on what type of code you generate.
Printing these QR codes in your stickers will allow you to provide more information to your audience digitally. This makes them powerful tools for your marketing campaigns.
What are the Types of QR Code Stickers?
QR code stickers can either be static or dynamic. Let’s take a deeper dive into these types below.
Static QR Codes
Static QR codes present permanent content that is not editable or trackable. The data is stored in the graphics of the QR code itself and when generated, it can no longer be overwritten. This type of QR code, because of its static nature, is often used to present information that need not be updated, such as in cases of a scheduled event or one-off campaign.
Dynamic QR Codes
Dynamic QR codes, on the other hand, are editable even after they are generated. They are usually encoded with a URL that when scanned, redirects the user into a second URL that can be updated and changed on demand.
Removing sticker residue from leather shouldn’t be done impulsively. You need to employ a step-by-step approach to ensure that you not only remove the sticker residue effectively but prevent damage to the leather as well.
Just like a static QR code, dynamic QR codes are able to send users to a specific source to access information. Their main difference is their editability, trackability, and integrability with online tools. As such, dynamic QR codes are more beneficial for businesses that need to present fluid information that changes over time.
What Happens After Scanning a QR Code Sticker?
When a user scans a QR code sticker with their mobile device or tablet, they are redirected to a source that presents information. There are a variety of use-case scenarios depending on the source you encode to the QR sticker.
For example, if you generate a QR code embedded with your website URL, scanning the QR will lead users to that specific page on your website, whether it be your home page or a specific product page. You can also generate a PDF QR code that directs the scanner to a PDF file that contains more information about your business, campaign, event, etc.
Overall, the possibilities of using a QR code sticker are vast. You can generate a QR code to suit your specific needs, primarily where you want to direct your audience after they interact with the code on your stickers.
How to Create QR Codes on Stickers?
Now that you know how you can utilize QR code stickers to advance your marketing campaigns, it’s about time you learn how to create them yourself. Printing a QR code sticker is basically the same process as printing custom stickers — except that you add the QR code as part of the design.
To do that, you’ll first need to generate your QR code. There are plenty of tools online you can use, such as QR Code Monkey, Uniqode, or Canva. For most of these online QR code generators, you simply have to provide the content source, customize your QR code, and then download it as a PNG file so you can add it to your sticker designs.
Once you’ve placed your QR code in your sticker design, you can print them out in your desired size, cut each individual sticker, and laminate them, if preferred. Then you’re ready to give them away!
